You won't find a better Decker pack saddle anywhere - packers who have used our Deckers won't have anything else. The bars are shaped in the classic O.P. Robinette style and fit most average horses and mules.

A one by four pine bar on each side of the half-breed spreads the weight of the packs across the pack animal's ribs.

The Classic half-breed is made from 24 oz. canvas, reinforced with top-quality latigo leather and stuffed with one inch of Duratex synthetic padding to help absorb the pressure of the load.

There are always ways to improve a product; however, we have found nothing better for the rigging than leather. We handpick from the very best available, Hermann Oak Old World Harness leather. The breast collar and the breeching are rolled to prevent soring or chafing. All straps are painstakingly stitched and riveted.

The hardware in our saddles is solid brass, chrome-plated, with the exception of the rigging rings and breeching dees, which are nickel-plated steel for ultimate strength. We provide roller buckles on the on-side quarter straps for easy adjustment.

The pack saddles are sold ready to pack with two latigos and a 100% Mohair pack cinch. Specify a cinch length, even sizes 22" - 36" (average pack mules and horses generally take a 28" cinch).

The cinches are 100% wool, with woven-in double rings for pannier tie-downs. We recommend a 28" for average 1,000 pound pack animals; it is always better to have a slightly shorter cinch with a pack saddle than with a riding saddle.
